Honey of a Quilt Show
March 3rd and 4th – Honey Creek Resort, Lake Rathbun, Centerville
Each summer my family takes at least one camping trip to Lake Rathbun near Centerville. It’s a picturesque man-made lake nestled between the rolling hills and farmland of Southern Iowa and definitely on my list of ‘happy places.’ It’s a little ways off the beaten path but If you’re in the mood for a road trip this weekend, you won’t be disappointed with a trip to see Lake Rathbun and the Honey of a Quilt Show presented by the Material Girlz Quilt Guild of Centerville. The show is located at Honey Creek Resort on the northern shores of the lake (which is technically in Moravia). The show will feature hourly raffles and door prizes, the Material Girlz gift shop, demos and vendors throughout both days. Sunday’s events include featured speaker Judy Martin from Grinnell and a trunk show of her quilts. I’m sure Judy will have copies of her newest book, Singular Stars, available. It’s just off the presses! Doors open at 10:00 am each day. A Quilts of Valor award ceremony will be held at 3:00pm on Sunday with a reception following.
Room reservations can be made at Honey Creek Resort by calling 641-724-9100. Tickets: $5 per day / $8 for a weekend pass
